About This Round
Juno's orbit is oriented such that apojove is at midnight. Jupiter moves into JunoCam's field of view starting at less than 2 hours before perijove, because the spacecraft is approaching from the Jupiter's dark side. Outbound, Jupiter leaves the field of view at +15 hr. Io is visible close to perijove.
Perijove Predict Map
About Perijove Predict Maps

Every perijove pass we have the challenge of predicting where Points of Interest will be as the different zones of the planet have different wind velocities. This map shows our effort to rotate the latitudinal zones with their different wind speeds to predict what will be under the Juno groundtrack.

Winner Selection
The PJ23 sequence starts with lightning search images. Then JunoCam starts taking images of the pole as soon as the crescent comes into the field of view. The pass over the north pole happens quickly, as the latitude of perijove is now up to 25N. Outbound we are looking at the south polar region for a number of hours before the southern crescent is lost from the field of view. Io is imaged close to perijove.
